Mary Barkdoll DeVries died peacefully on November 6th, 2018 in Orlando, Florida at the age of 100.

Mary B. DeVries is survived by her son, Dennis DeVries and wife Constance DeVries of Orlando, Florida; grandsons, Raymond Stubbs of Jacksonville, Florida, Chris Stubbs and wife Stephanie Stubbs of St. Augustine Florida; nieces, Susan Neal of Greenville, South Carolina, Kimberly Wronski and husband Edwin Wronski of Orlando, Florida, Sally Wilson of Annandale, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Alexander Stubbs and Sydney Stubbs of St. Augustine, Florida. Mary was born on July 14, 1918 in Rouzerville, Pennsylvania to Clarence Ory Barkdoll and Mary Blanche (Schull) Barkdoll. She married William Raymond DeVries Aug 31, 1940 in Kensington, Maryland. Bill and Mary DeVries lived in Silver Spring, Maryland, where they raised their children, Dennis DeVries and the late Ann (DeVries) Stubbs. In 1977, they moved to Jacksonville Beach, Florida, where they were faithful members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Followed by residing in Somerset, Virginia, St Augustine, and Orlando.

Mary lived her life selflessly with compassion and a servant’s heart. Her passion was loving and praying for family and friends.  Her interests ranged from travel with her husband, restoring and collecting dolls, cooking, to sewing and quilting. She enjoyed reading the Bible, Guidepost, Angel books and books on Home Remedies.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 12, at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Stubbs Family Residence in St Augustine. Rev. Ross Engel will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary's life. In lieu of flowers, we would ask to please send donations to Cornerstone Hospice at donate.cshospice.org.
