Mary T. White, 98, passed peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2024. She was born September 27, 1925, in Linden, NJ, to George and Mary Thomas. After graduating from Linden High School, she resided in Elizabeth, then South Plainfield, followed by Mantoloking Shores (1955), Bay Head and Point Pleasant (all NJ). Ultimately, she settled in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in 1989. Mary was a long-standing parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Laurie; sons, George F. White III (Courtney) of Rocky Hill, NJ and Gregg White (Tricia) of Vero Beach, FL; estranged daughter, Jennifer Schutter (Greg) Midlothian, VA; grandchildren, Nicole, Doug, William, Daniel, Adam, Dennis, Reid and Charlie White, Kelsey and Corey Schutter; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ashley, Evelyn and Russell II; loving nieces, Kathy and Eileen; and a special group of devoted and caring Ponte Vedra friends. Mary was predeceased by her ex-husband, George F. White Jr.; son, Robert P. White; grandson, LCpl Russell P. White.
Mary attributed her longevity, both in physical stamina and mental determination, to her devoted faith in the Lord. And like the classic Frank Sinatra song, she would say, I (Mary) did it “My Way.”
Funeral services will be held at a future date to celebrate Mary’s grand life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice & Palliative Care or to Hart Felt Ministries.
