Maurice J. “Bud” Dalton passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2021. Bud was born on August 4, 1928 in Beloit, Wisconsin to Maurice and Edith Dalton and had one sibling, Patricia.

The family moved to Illinois when Bud was in high school. He graduated from New Trier East in 1946.  Following in his father’s footsteps with a love of sports, Bud went on to play football at Lake Forest College where he earned his BA degree.  While there he met the love of his life, Lorie Pieters, who would become his wife of 64 years until her passing in 2017.  They were blessed with four children - Diane, Linda, Sue and Jim, who were his pride and joy, as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Bud was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp serving as a 2nd lieutenant.  He also had a successful career as a salesman for Fairchild Camera & Instrument and Bell & Howell.

Bud and Lorie raised their children in Northbrook, Illinois where he was an active member of the Northbrook Civic Organization and influenced many young men as a favorite Little League Baseball Coach.

Retirement found Bud and Lorie headed south to sunny skies and warmer temps in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He spent the last several years at The Palms at Ponte Vedra where he had many friends and was an ambassador that welcomed new residents.

Bud was a living example of his faith to his family and all who were blessed to know him.  He was described by many as a sweet, kindhearted, gentle man and he will be greatly missed.

A private service will be held for family members. Donations may be made in Bud’s name to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, Jacksonville, FL.

We love you dad – enjoy all the milkshakes and cookies you want in Heaven!
