Mia Mary Grace McKeefery, cherished daughter of Shawn and Jessica McKeefery and beloved little sister to Jack, passed peacefully in the arms of her parents at 11:22 pm on November 18th, 2025. In her 90 extraordinary days, Mia lived a life full of purpose, love and miracles. She permanently changed the hearts of all who knew her.

Mia’s story began long before her birth. At 12 weeks in utero she was diagnosed with Trisomy 13. Though this condition was permanent, her parents chose life for their daughter and entrusted her story to God. Mia defied every expectation placed before her. She survived pregnancy, entered the world with strength and went on to write her own beautiful story one day at a time.

Doctors believed Mia would live only minutes or hours. Instead, she was carried home in her parents’ arms and held close without pause. Every hour became a day, every day became a week and every week grew into a lifetime’s worth of memories. Shawn and Jessica poured all their love into her. Her existence became permanent in their home and in their hearts.

Mia’s life was filled with milestones that were never promised. Her family celebrated holidays with her, watched her grow and experienced miracles wrapped in quiet moments. When she was given the chance to have her heart examined, they learned that her PDA remained open. Her parents believed it was left that way by God himself, sustaining her life in a way only He could design.

As Mia grew, her medical team marveled at her strength. She continued to outlive every prediction. When the opportunity arose to help her heart further, Shawn and Jessica made the most loving decision parents can make. Although they did not know how frail her lungs had become, Mia fought bravely and held on until her final breath. She left this world wrapped in the same love she was welcomed into.

Mia is survived by her parents, Shawn and Jessica, and by her big brother, Jack, who was the best big brother a little sister could ever have. Jack loved his sister so much even in the short time she was with them. Watching the two interact and all the kisses that were exchanged will forever be a treasured memory for their family.

She is also abundantly loved by her extended family, friends and the countless people who prayed for her across states, countries and languages. The profound impact she made in her short time will be spoken of for generations.

Shawn and Jessica would like to express their deepest gratitude to their families, the medical team, hospice staff and community of friends who walked alongside them with compassion and unwavering love.

A Celebration of Life for Mia will be held on December 6th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at The Church of Eleven22, San Pablo Campus, located at 14286 Beach Blvd, Unit 2, Jacksonville, Florida 32250.

Mia’s time was brief, but the love she gave and the love she received are eternal. She was and will always be their miracle. Her legacy lives on in every heart she touched. Shawn, Jessica and Jack will forever love and miss their precious Mia. Until they meet her again in heaven, they carry her with them, permanently etched in their souls.

“But Jesus said, Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
