Michael Alexander Guckavan, 21, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2018, while attending his senior year of college at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland.   He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on December 19, 1996, to Bryan and Dawn Guckavan.  Michael was a devout Catholic, who’s dream in life was to obtain a PhD and research a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.  He was currently earning his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, along with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry; Michael was planning on graduating this coming spring and would have enjoyed being a student forever.  He loved to read, learn, research, try new foods, and watch his favorite football team, the New England Patriots.  Michael’s favorite TV show was “Doctor Who”, and even though he was 21, he still loved cartoons.

Michael is survived by his loving parents, Bryan and Dawn Guckavan; brothers, Matthew and Luke; sister, Piper; and girlfriend, Julia Reilly-Edwards, to whom he planned to propose.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018, at St. John Paul II in Nocatee at 10:00 am, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at Noon, with burial in Ponte Vedra Valley.  A Celebration of Life Reception will be held back at the church following the Graveside Service.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Michael’s name.
