Michael Glenn Gimbel of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, passed away June 14, 2026 surrounded by family. Throughout his life, Michael had many different eras from his time in the hospitality industry, to following his passion and teaching martial arts where he achieved the rank of 5th degree black belt in Isshin-Ryu. Michael never found himself surrounded by strangers, any room full of strangers was just a conversation or two away from becoming a room full of friends as people were drawn to his loving heart, his wit and his genuine curiosity about people. In his final calling as a stay-at-home dad he passed his curiosity about people and the world to his son who will always feel very fortunate to have had a father who had boundless love for his family, enough to make his son his life's work. Michael loved music, he introduced his son to everything from Motown to hard rock and shared his own musical gift, his singing voice with Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church, Palms Presbyterian Church and Beaches Church among others. It's impossible to sum up the magnitude of the man that he was in such a brief amount of words. In the last few years Michael struggled with his health, his age and a series of hospital stays made it harder for him to live the vibrant, gregarious existence that defined him. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; his son, Alexander and daughter-in-law, Marisa; his, brother Dan and sister-in-law, Angela; and many nieces and nephews, who will all miss his presence very deeply even as we know he his at peace with beloved sister, Mickey; and older brother, Gil.
Michael's memorial service will be held on Thursday August 6, 2026, at 10:00 am at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida.
