Dorothy Jane Mott of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016.  Born in Miami on August 24, 1920, Dorothy was the youngest of six children.  She grew up in Miami and graduated from Miami Edison Senior High.

Dorothy earned an Associate in Science degree in Dietary Science and spent her career managing food service operations in public schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

Always staying busy, Dorothy’s retirement activities included volunteer work for former U.S. Senator Bob Graham, directing patients and visitors to the correct room at Tallahassee Community Hospital, and knitting hats for newborn babies.

Dorothy moved to Ponte Vedra Beach at the age of 90 and immediately became involved with The Player’s Senior Center.  One of her greatest pleasures was spending Tuesday and Thursday at the Center with her friends.

Dorothy was a compassionate and loving person who will be missed deeply by her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred B. Mott, Sr.  Dorothy is survived by her sons, Fred Mott, Jr. (Shirlene), and Dale Mott; daughter, Patricia Caldwell (Don); and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 20, 11:30 am at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
