Nancy Ann Blackwell, age 81, passed away on June 25, 2021. She was born on July 12, 1939, in Alton, Illinois, to Arthur Huebener and Mary Rittenhouse Huebener.
Nancy is survived by her two children, Carolyn Anderson and Scott Blackwell, and her two grandsons, Jacob McCarthy and Ian Anderson. Nancy also is survived by her sister, Linda Clayton and her family, as well as her daughter-in-law, Petra Blackwell. Nancy was blessed to have a wonderful extended family and family pets, including her cat Lizzie who she adopted and adored during the Covid Pandemic. Nancy is preceded in death by Guy Blackwell and both her parents.
Nancy graduated from Alton High School in 1957. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Illinois University but was most proud of becoming a Life Master in Bridge. Besides playing Duplicate Bridge, she loved all water activities especially water aerobics. Nancy’s favorite activity throughout her life was traveling. She and her sister even took a 60-day cruise to see the world. Nancy marked a map of all the places she had visited and said when asked for her favorite she said that she loved them all.
The family would like to thank all Nancy’s caregivers at Baptist Medical Center South, Brook’s Bartram Crossing, and also at Community Hospice. They are Caring Superheroes!
The family is planning a scuba and snorkeling traveling adventure in her honor for her upcoming birthday.
