Nanette Marie Freeman never met a stranger. It didn't matter if you were family, friend, coworker, or someone behind her in line at the grocery store. Vibrant and outgoing, she made friends just living each day. She was the best chocolate chip cookie maker, master of all crafts, loved walking, biking, triathlons, gardening, kayaking, traveling, shopping, and talking on the phone. She set the foundation for family traditions. Christmas was her favorite, but her 4th of July celebrations were legendary.

If asked about her greatest accomplishment, she wouldn’t hesitate: her family. Born in Colorado and grew up in Utah, she moved to Hawaii where she met her sailor husband. They began a 53-year marriage full of thrilling adventures that took her all over the world and gave her two daughters, a son in law, and three grandchildren that she loved unconditionally. She was a devoted sister and aunt and had lifelong friendships that she treasured. She savored life, every moment, every new experience.

She courageously battled two types of leukemia for many years always believing she would triumph over the disease.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 23, followed by a reception where we can truly celebrate our favorite person. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Mayo Clinic or the American Cancer Society.
