Norman Eugene Middlekauff, 81, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018, peacefully in his home in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on September 22, 1936, in North English, IA. At 18 years old, he enlisted in the United States Navy and soon after was stationed at the Brooklyn Shipyards in New York, where he met and married his wife Brigid, who preceded him in death. They shared 52 wonderfully blessed years of marriage. Norman served 24 years in the United States Navy and is a Vietnam War Veteran. After retiring from the Navy he subsequently retired from the North Florida Shipyards and U.S. Post Office. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves fan. He was a long time parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. His greatest joy in life was being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Norman is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Brian) Dineen, Noreen (Brian) Bennett, Roseann (Henry) White; one son, David Middlekauff Sr.; six grandsons, Brendan (Brittany) Dineen, Joseph (Christina) Dineen, Andrew (Taylor) Dineen, Christopher White, Alexander Bennett, David Middlekauff Jr.; three granddaughters, Kelsi Bennett, Christina White, and Courtney Middlekauff; two great-grandchildren, McKenna and Hunter Dineen; one brother, Charles Middlekauff; two sisters, Janice Garringer, Joann Strasser; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, March, 4, 2018 at Ponte Vedra Valley, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. A Funeral Mass will follow on Monday, March 5, 2018, at 11:00 am, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Jacksonville, FL.
