Patrick Emmett Murphy passed away at his home on February 11, 2023, with loved ones at his side. Patrick was born on November 13,1948, in Atlanta GA, to parents James and Elizabeth Murphy.
He is survived by his son, James; sisters, Judith E. Murphy, Dixie Murphy and Rosalie Rivers; niece and nephews. Patrick was sadly predeceased by his sister, Alba Murphy.
Patrick was a graduate of the University of Ireland Galway, St. Bernard's College of Cullman Alabama, and the Columbia Military Academy. His vast and successful professional career included that as an educator at Fletcher Middle School, an accounts manager at Ashland Oil and Valvoline, owner and president of Centerpoint Marketing, a journalist and author of fiction novels, and the sales manager of CaboRico Yachts.
Pat had a deep love of sailing and travel and ventured far and wide.
Pat achieved his lifelong ambition of attaining his Irish citizenship and residency in recent years where his adopted countryman welcomed him warmly into the fold. Pat will be missed dearly here and abroad by his loving family and friends, and his beloved dog, Maeve.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, 1 pm, at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home with a reception to immediately follow.
