Paul Joseph Steighner, 75, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2019, with his wife of 57 years, Kathy, at his side. Paul was born on September 12, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Anthony and Loretta (DeBrocq) Steighner. During his elementary school years, the family moved to Key West, Florida. During his teen years, Paul worked on boats in Key West, solidifying his love of the water. Eventually the family settled in New Smyrna Beach. After high school, Paul joined the US Navy and was sent to California for basic training. He was soon joined in California by his high school sweetheart, Kathy. They were married shortly thereafter in a small ceremony on June 22, 1962, not caring about an elaborate wedding, just wanting to be together. The Navy would soon bring the newlyweds back to Key West; it was there that they would start adding to their family. After his military service, Paul earned an Accounting degree from the University of North Florida. Early in his professional career as a Real Estate broker and Construction Contractor, Paul worked for Curry Enterprises and Treco, Inc., as a Commercial Real Estate Broker. In 1986, he and Kathy would go on to start the highly successful Timberline Properties. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother, Edward. He is survived his wife of 57 years, Kathy (Moore); sons: Michael (Cindy) Maryville, TN and Jeff (Ingrid) of Jacksonville; 4 grandchildren: Marisa (25), Adam (23), Noah (21), all of Jacksonville; Quentin (21) of Nashville, TN; brother, Carl (Becky) of Jacksonville. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, 10:00 am at San Jose Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or San Jose Catholic Church.
