Reyla Montagna, 85, loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator and community volunteer, passed away at her home in Jacksonville, Florida.

Reyla was born in New York City and attended Columbia University before earning a Master's degree in education at the State University of New York at New Paltz. She began her teaching career in La Crosse, Wisconsin before moving to Middletown, New York, where for 25 years she taught elementary school, helping students through her exceptional kindness and commitment. Reyla and her husband then retired to Jacksonville where she was deeply involved with giving back to her community, including extensive service as a foster care administrator and tutor. She especially enjoyed teaching English as a second language. Reyla was a member of the congregation of Bethel Synagogue, in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Most of all, Reyla loved her family, which included her husband, Dennis; sons, Mitchel (Marcia) and Douglas (Denise); her daughter, Lydia (Elliot) Noma; and her grandson, Gregory; all of whom survive her.

In lieu of flowers, Reyla's family asks that you contribute to your favorite charity in her name.
