Richard "Rick" Hulbert, a devoted son, loving father, and endlessly talented man, passed away on September 25, 2023, at the age of 68. He leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship, a deep connection to the ocean, and cherished memories shared with his family and friends.
Rick was born in 1955 to his proud parents, Richard Sr.(“Dick”, “Gramp”) and Joan (“Gram”) who survive him. He was a beloved son and his love and respect for them were unwavering throughout his life. Rick is survived by his two sons, Adam and Jason. He often shared his passion for sports, music, books, woodworking and the wonders of the ocean with them, subtly imparting valuable life lessons while encouraging their creativity and independence. He adored his grandchildren Noah and Hannah.
A true artisan, Rick had an exceptional talent for woodworking. His hands created masterpieces that will be cherished for generations to come. Whether it was crafting intricate furniture or building beautiful, detailed model ships, his work was a testament to his patience and skill. Rick's love for the ocean was a defining aspect of his life. He found solace and inspiration in its depths and its ever-changing beauty. He spent countless hours simply enjoying its serene presence.
In addition to his immediate family, Rick is survived by his three brothers and a sister, Mark, Forest (“Woody”), Brett, and Marianne, who shared a close bond throughout their lives. Their shared experiences and support were a source of strength for Rick. He will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to his craft, and his deep love for his family and the ocean. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will forever live on in the beautiful works of art he created and the love he shared.
A small service to celebrate Rick's life will be held on November 12th 2:00pm at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home.
Rick, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit will always be present in the waves, the wood, and the hearts of those who love you. May you find eternal peace by the shores you cherished so dearly.
