Robert A. Van De Water

September 12, 1934 – February 8, 2023

Bob was born in Mineola, New York on September 12, 1934 to Florence (Morrell) and Allen Van De Water. He spent his childhood in Hempstead, NY and graduated from Hempstead High School.

Bob served in the U.S. Army between 1954-1956, stationed in Japan. When he returned, he worked at Towns & James Wholesale Drug Co  in Westbury, NY where he met his wife, Susan.

Bob and Sue married on May 18,1963 and after living in several locations in the New York / New Jersey area, they settled in High Bridge, New Jersey in 1973. He worked in the wholesale pharmaceutical industry until he retired in 1999.

They moved to Ponte Vedra Beach upon his retirement. He got a job at The TPC Sawgrass as a course advisor, which he held for 20 years, retiring in 2019 at the age of 85. He enjoyed meeting the celebrities and professional athletes there.

Bob loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants and watching golf.  He spent many hours attending his son’s football and baseball games and volunteered much of his time to their teams. He also enjoyed attending his daughter’s and grandchildren’s activities.

He had a great passion for golf and looked forward to playing with his buddies in High Bridge and Ponte Vedra.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Susan (Swass) Van De Water, his daughter, Teri, his son ,Bobby, his son, Jon (Mical), his daughter, Katie, and his four grandchildren, Gehrig, Derek, Raylan, and Arabella. He also is survived by his brother, Donald Van De Water (Phyllis), his sister Cheryl McMahon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at 11:00 A.M at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home.
