It is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Leroy Wendzel announces his passing, on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the age of 78 years. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Karen. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his children, Scott and wife Suzanne, Chris and wife Elissa, and Peter and wife Karin. Bob will also be fondly remembered by his ten grandchildren, Alex, Julianne, Janelle, Kayla, Nathan, Ben, Emily, Brittany, Caroline, and Olivia, as well as his brother Tom and sister-in-law Carol and sister-in-law Anna Marie, wife of his late brother Doug. 

In addition to being a beloved father and husband who was devoted to all matters (whether great or small) related to his family, Bob was an author of numerous books on national security issues who had a life-long passion for respectful discourse on all matters of public policy. Visitation will be held at the Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017.  A Funeral Service in memory of Bob will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at Redeemer Church, 190 S. Roscoe Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach.  Interment will follow in the Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Bob to the Alzheimer’s Association, to which Bob donated frequently in memory of his wife Karen, or to the Wounded Warriors Project, to which Bob often donated in relation to his long association with the U.S. Air Force as an instructor and administrator at the Air War College in Montgomery, AL.
