Robert Lynn Brown (Bob), a loving family man and friend to many passed away peacefully on Friday September 4, 2026, at his home in Saint Johns, Fl.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories to many in his 93 years. Friends & Family remember his kindness, love, humor, and his ability to tell the best stories ever.
Bob was born on February 11,1933 in Washington DC to Lynn Louis Brown and Esther Marie Bouchai. He was their only child. His father worked at the United States Capital and mother was a housewife. As the Depression in America continued the family moved to Chicago in 1935 for work in the construction and steel industries. Bob lived in Chicago through the 8th grade. It was here that he developed an interest in Art sketching and painting.
Mr. Brown moved the family to Dickson, Tennessee where his family owned a farm for 9 generations. Bob went from city life to rural life overnight. His only ambition in the move was to be a Cowboy, but his father had other ideas. He put him behind a mule, taught him to farm, and loved the land. He also learned to love and care for animals. A love he had all his life.
Bob graduated from Dickson County High School in 1951 where he was voted Wittiest in the Class Superlatives. After high school he worked for Western Electric. He loved working in communications, but the career was cut short as he joined the US Army. His experience at Western Electric helped him get a wonderful Army assignment. He was assigned to the US Army Headquarters Office in Paris France, where he spent his entire tour traveling with the General throughout Europe as his communications officer. Bob was fortunate to see Europe in the 1950's as it had been for years.
After his Army tour Bob returned to Dickson and started his career with Southern Bell Telephone Company as a Lineman. Throughout his career at Southern Bell, South Central Bell, and AT&T he held many positions in management ultimately retiring in 1987 after 32 years of service. His last career assignment was Data Systems Manager in the Marketing Division of AT&T.
At 21 after his Army tour, he married Glenda Manley of Dickson, Tn. They had two daughters, Myra Lynn and Cheryl Ann. Their marriage ended about 10 Years later.
On a snowy day in January 1989, he married Debby Brown in Nashville, Tn. They had worked together in business and had been friends since 1975. In marriage they started a new life adventure in the Jacksonville, Florida area where Debby continued her career.
Bob embraced the new Florida lifestyle with adventure, style and grace. They traveled the beautiful USA and loved spending time at their home on Crescent Beach, Fl. Their beach place provided a perfect destination for family vacation gatherings through the years. He had the pleasure of spending quality family times with children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. He loved his beach walks admiring the many creations of God.
Bob pursued his love of art with classes and created many beautiful oil paintings. He always had a sketch pad available as ideas came to him. He also enjoyed reading, was a history buff, and always had an opinion on politics. He loved time sitting at Crescent Beach with Debby watching the ocean and Gods weather changes. He said for years people sat and watched the same ocean that we are watching today.
Bob had the gift of connecting with everyone and making friends. His smile could light up a room, and he always had a story to tell, making people feel comfortable and usually made them laugh. Many friends say they will miss him as he was the best storyteller ever. Bob loved his St. Johns neighbors and was proud he and Debby helped create the Deer Run Dinner Club in 2004. He was often referred to as the Mayor of Deer Run. Dinner Club is still strong.
Bob's greatest loves were Debby, the family, his religious beliefs, and his love of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was ready to go be with our Heavenly Father.
Bob and Debby were married 37 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Deborah (Debby) Brown. Two Daughters: Myra Lynn LaBare, Ft. Wayne, In., Cheryl Ann Carr, Burns, TN., 7 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great-Great Grandchildren, and Debby's son Jonathan P. Stephenson and his Daughter Alyssa R. Stephenson, whom he also called his own.
The family wishes to thank Mayo Clinic for their years of care, Community Hospice of NE Fl., and Bobs family and friends for their help and prayers through his journey.

A Memorial Mass will be held on September 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church, 1718 Fl -13, St. Johns, Fl. 32259. Interment will be in the Columbarium at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church following the Mass.
