Robert Mark Gupton, Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Ponte Vedra, FL. "Mark" was the eldest son of RM and Victoria Gupton. He was born in Fayetteville, NC, but spent his youth in Red Springs, NC. Mark entered Campbell College, a two year school at the time, and after completion, transferred to East Carolina. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and was graduated with a BS Degree in Business. In 1959, he began a 66 year relationship with Penny Hamilton. Mark and Penny were married their Sr. year of college. After graduation Mark was offered a position with Carnation Company. He continued with Nestle after Nestle merged with Carnation. He retired after 41years of service with these two companies. Mark spent many hours coaching little league baseball and was President of the league while living in Hollywood, FL.
Mark leaves behind his wife, Penny Hamilton Gupton; sons, Robert Mark Gupton, III, (Margo) and Christopher Hamilton Gupton, (Diane); grandchildren, Brittany Binder (Michael), Hayley Hamilton (Zach), Emma Gupton, Austin Griswold, Carter Gupton and Delaney Gupton; great granddaughter, Sadie Hamilton; brother, David Gupton (Gerilynn). Mark was admired by many for his character, integrity and kindness. His family was what he cherished most and he will be missed.
The family will be receiving friends starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3 at Ponte Vedra Valley. Mark's funeral will be in Warrenton, NC. He will join his parents and other Gupton descendants at Evergreen Cemetery.
