Ron Markis, 71, passed this world on March 17th, 2018. Born 1946 in Boston, Ron grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts. The third son of William and Frances (Schwartz) Markis, he graduated from Boston University School of Business. He spent much of his adult life in entrepreneurial endeavors. After living in Boston, New York City, New Jersey, Dallas, and Atlanta, Ron finally called the First Coast of FL his home, moving from Mandarin to Ponte Vedra and finally to Jacksonville Beach. He will be remembered locally as the owner of JB Nicks Chemicals, Royal Motors, Fashion $9.99, My Favorite Cleaners, and Lox Stock & Bagels, before working many years in the real estate business as a Broker and Investor. Predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Michael Markis and Norman Markis, Ron leaves behind his life partner, Susan Skarp, of Jacksonville Beach; children, Jill Garcia of Jupiter, FL, Gary Markis and wife, Aracely, of Greenacres, FL, and Farah Markis of Brooklyn, NY; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two nephews. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday March 23rd , 1:00 pm at Ponte Vedra Valley. A reception will immediately follow at the funeral home on-site.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Baptist Beaches Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Avante Nursing Home, and McGraw Hospice for their care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to diabetes research hospitals or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
