Rosemary Alcorn English, 84, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed on to be with the Lord on September 22, 2022.

Born in 1938 in Gaffney, South Carolina, Rosemary graduated from Bennettsville High school and attended Limestone College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree, and Duke University, earning a Master of Arts in Teaching. This led to a teaching career in Duval County Florida, where she taught Chemistry for many years and later became an Assistant Principal at Wolfson High School. Rosemary met her future husband, William (Bill) English, while both taught at Fletcher High School. She was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who was well-loved by her students and colleagues alike.

Rosemary and Bill led a full life of adventure and traveled the world with dear friends and family, touring countries such as Russia, Egypt and throughout Europe and South America. They also traveled extensively within the United States. Both were active, devoted and caring members of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, where they made great friends and eagerly helped many in need through their charitable acts.

A devoted wife and mother, Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Michael English; sister, Florence A. Hacker: nephews, David Bruce and Tony English. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Tanya English; grandchildren: Logan English, Lauren English, and Morgan Strange; great-grandchildren: Charlie, Sofia, Izzy, and Emmy; nieces: Terry Mink, Deana Clark, Stacy English Crouch, Julie Batsford; and, her cousin and life-long friend, Sylvia Harvey.

Rosemary will be remembered for the love she showed others, her positive outlook through good times and adversity, and her ever-present big smile. Her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Through her last several years of health struggles, Rosemary always showed love, appreciation, and gratitude to the many family, friends and devoted caregivers who assisted her.

A service for Rosemary will be held at a later date. To honor the memory of Rosemary, the family respectfully requests donations be made in her name to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida.
