SARASWATHI SATYANARAYANA
June 2, 1937 – September 4, 2024
Saraswathi was the oldest daughter in a large family of eleven children. She had to care for her younger siblings who later in life looked up to her for guidance.
She married Mr. H. S. Satyanarayana, an engineer who taught and worked for the Department of Defense when she was barely 20 years old. Together they raised their two children across the country. Her eidetic memory and keen intellelct enabled her to learn five languages and master the local cuisine wherever they were stationed. She truly enjoyed cooking and her parties for family and friends were legendary.
She moved in 2008 to live with her son and daughter-in-law and became a beloved member of the Hindi- and Kannada-speaking communities in Jacksonville.
She is survived by her son Raj (Sarala) and daughter Uma (Mathews); four grandchildren-Ganesh (Gabrielle), Rohit, Nishad, and Varsha; and great grandson, Raphael.
The Satyanarayana family is grateful to the physicians and staff at the Mayo Clinic in Florida, Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, and Community Hospice of Northeast Florida for the untiring care they provided to Saraswathi.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making a contribution to the Mayo Clinic, or Hindu Society of Northeast Florida.
