Shaunn L. Wright, 40, died on Thursday, February 9, 2023, in St. Augustine, Florida. He was born on November 11, 1982, in Louisville, KY, to David and Denna Wright. He graduated from Englewood High School in Jacksonville, FL. While in high school he joined the American Red Cross Volunteer Lifesaving Corps (ARCVLSC) in the Winter Class of 2000. This organization, its mission and its people, became very special for Shaunn. For many years volunteered with ARCVLSC and worked as a Lifeguard for the City of Jacksonville Beach, and had several documented (and many other undocumented) lifesaving events during his lifeguarding career. He retired from the ARCVLSC in 2007, after which he worked as a Construction Supervisor. However, his heart was always in the ARCVLSC.
Shaunn enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating and wakeboarding in the Intercoastal waterway and throughout Florida. Almost equally he enjoyed snowboarding with friends and family. He traveled to Idaho, California, New Hampshire and North Carolina in search of fresh snow.
Shaunn is survived by his grandparents, Carol Blankenbaker and Bill Howell; his parents, Dave and Denna Wright; his four brothers, Justin, Corey, Blake and Tyler; his sisters-in-law, Karen, Jessica and Katie; his niece, Millie; his nephews, Carson, Caleb, Seth, Hunter and Wyatt; and his aunts and uncles, Myron Blakenbaker and Ann Hill, and Amy and Neil Van Wart.
A memorial service will be held at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, 32082, 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 16. The doors will open at noon.
