It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen Emme shares his passing on October 29, 2023, at the age of 74 in Jacksonville, Florida.  Steve was born on August 26, 1949, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Eugene and Ruth Emme.

He graduated from Northwood High School in Silver Springs, Maryland, class of 1967. Stephen enlisted in the Navy Reserves and subsequently graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in 1974.  He joined GEICO Insurance in 1976, becoming the first CPA hired by them.  He eventually established his own practice in Maryland.

Steve and Gaye retired to St Johns, FL in 2021 after living in Arlington, VA since 2008.  They met playing golf, which was Steve’s passion and joy.  He was a member of Argyle Country Club in Maryland and played on many well-known courses, among them Pine Valley Golf Club and Pinehurst.

He will be missed by his wife of 15 years, Gaye Boyette; his children: Elaine Emme from Astoria, NY and Eric Emme from Clarksburg, MD; and his three grandchildren, Alexander, Patrick and Noelani. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Sabel (Gary) and brother, Stuart Emme.

If so desired, in lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
