Susan Elizabeth Wilson Mayer
Susan Elizabeth Wilson Mayer passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, November 1, 2025, under the compassionate care of the Community Hospice Center for Caring at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born January 16, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Nathan and Joyce Wilson, Susan graduated from Fletcher High School in 1972 and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Florida State University.
Susan dedicated more than 40 years to nursing, providing unwavering care and kindness to countless patients. She spent much of her career at Baptist Beaches Hospital and, later in life, embraced a new adventure as a traveling nurse during the pandemic. This journey took her to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked at Emory University for several years before returning to Jacksonville in 2022. Most recently, she resided in St. Augustine, enjoying retirement and time with her family and her beloved Boston Terriers, Gypsy and Charlie.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Natalie Elizabeth Rickard, husband Matt Rickard, and their child, Goldie James Rickard; her son, Christopher Michael Mayer; sisters Pamela Diane Wilson, Cynthia Ann Wilson, Holly Jane Wilson, Amy Celeste Wilson; and sister-in-law Robyn Kreimborg. She was preceded in death by her son, Alex Phillip Mayer; brother, Michael Edward Wilson; and her parents, Nathan and Joycelin Wilson.
