Susan K. Hunter Barrett was born on December 27, 1952 in Jacksonville, Florida to Gordon and Edith Hunter. She died peacefully at home on July 30, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Susan was a longtime resident of Palm Valley, and retired from Baptist Beaches after 27 years of service. She was known by her friends and family for her kindness, humor, and her love of pigs. She felt her greatest accomplishment was her grandchildren. Susan was preceded in death by parents, Gordon and Edith Hunter; and brother, Donald Hunter. She is survived by her life love, Steve Fuquay; daughters, Michelle DeLoach (Brett), Bobbi Barrett (Brian), Sarah Fowler (Frank), Hannah Butler (Curtis); grandchildren, Christopher Bennett (Amy), Dalton, Shelby, Bryce, Blake, Abby, Julia, Frankie, Lily, and Laura; sister, Darlene Wilkes (Sam). The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from noon to 1:00 pm at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL with a funeral service and burial immediately following at 1:00 pm. Directly after the graveside service, a reception will be held at Palm Valley Baptist Church, 4890 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations made in Susan’s honor to the Lupus Foundation of America.
