Susan Rose "The Bootle" Rutkowski was born on June 27, 1973. She lived in Hammond, Indiana for twenty-one years before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana. Susan found a promising career in the concrete pipe industry as an engineer, parting ways after 16½ years and now resides in the state of Florida.
Susan was very active in sports through her school years, involving herself in volleyball, basketball and track while keeping her grades above average. Writing short stories and songs kept her busy through her younger life but slowly trickled to nothing in her adult years. Feeling smothered and trapped after a few bad relationships and some personal tragedies and loss, she decided to take part of her life back; the one that meant the world to her, writing. It wasn’t a walk in the park at first and after many long nights of struggling and staring at a blank computer monitor, she was almost ready to give up on her dream. Then the perfect opportunity arose in 2009 when a winter snowstorm left her snowed in for a week. With little to do and almost a foot of snow on the ground, it all clicked into place. Instead of reverting back to writing short stories or song lyrics, Susan decided to take her personal experiences through her lifetime and turn them into a book of fiction. She completed the first book of her series, ‘Rise Of The Spyres’ in 2010 and the second book of the series in 2011.
Working full time and taking care of the household left little time to write or promote either of the books until in the summer of 2012, Susan found a friend that would change the rest of her life in a dramatic way. After being called by Steve, a.k.a. Wolfx, the Host from the radio show ‘Live From The Morgue’ to be interviewed on his show for her books, a bond quickly formed between the two of them. In mid-June, of the same year, she became co-host and guest booker of the show while still living in Indiana. Some of the guests include many up-and-coming authors, comedians and actors, musicians helping them to get their names out to the public. Steve and Susan became the best of friends and talked almost every day the entire summer and they both knew in that short amount of time they’d found their soul mate. Susan knew it was time to take the biggest risk of her life. Three months later, in the middle of September, she packed what she could into her truck, left her job and drove 18 hours straight from Indiana to New York, where Susan and Steve lived together. They continued to write together and still do the radio show every Saturday night, for the next 7 years. In 2015 They welcomed in the 3rd part of the family, Murphy Quin, in 2019 The radio show closed its doors and giving up the family business they started together ( SnS Sprinkler service ) that was thriving, they moved in with Steves parents to help with Steves mom, who had dementia and Steve's father, who had lung cancer, and life took a turn that was unanticipated it was a life changing experience. Soon the family up and moved to Florida in 2021, where in the next few years both parents would pass. Finaly in August of 2024 life seemed to finally start to straighten out, then In late September 2024 Susan was diagnosed with lung cancer, which she immediately started chemo and radiation, heart cancer (had open heart surgery), then a stroke left her paralyzed from the waist down and she recovered, then brain cancer in Nov 2024, after a successful brain operation and more radiation, she was deemed in remission. Then in early June 2025 the brain cancer had returned, this time there was nothing anyone could do. Susan Rose Rutkowski passed away June 26th 2025 at 2:30pm at age 51 roughly 9 hrs shy of her birthday on June 27th.
She leaves behind her husband, Steve Sachs; and daughter Murphy Quin.
