Suzan Valerie David entered the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, December 8, 2017. Today she is rejoicing with her heavenly family.  Suzan was born on August 26, 1938, to Martha McKoone Ellis and Giles Lambert Ellis in Jacksonville, FL.  She graduated in 1956 from Gainesville High School.  Suzan then went on to become a Registered Nurse earning her degree from St. Vincent’s Nursing School in 1959 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Hospital Administration from St Joseph’s College in Wyndham, ME. Over her career, she served as Director of Nursing for St. Vincent’s Hospital and various nursing leadership positions.  Suzan retired as Chief Operating Officer of Riverside Hospital.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She was an avid reader and student of the Bible.  She also loved cooking and entertaining for her family and friends.  Suzan and her family enjoyed traveling together and treasured the memories they shared.  She served on various non-profit organizations and served in various church leadership positions supporting missions and church development.  Suzan taught Sunday School for over 50 years and led many Bible studies over the years. Her passion to share Christ with others was a priority for her life works.  Suzan was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lambert and Ken Ellis and a son, William K. David, Jr.  She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, William K. David; daughters, Laurie David Villa (Alvaro), Marilee Howland (Ronald) and Susan Davis (James); ten grandchildren, Aaron Howland, Caleb Howland, Joshua Howland, Jeff David, Cindy David Burkett, Dana Davis Carlson, Daniel Villa, Walter Villa, Jordan Villa and Adrian Villa; five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Carlson, Hailey Burkett, Brandon Burkett, William “Tre” K David III and Jake David.  A Visitation will be held at Ponte Vedra Valley on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 5-7 pm.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16, at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Hobson Auditorium, 517 North Hogan Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202.  Lunch will follow for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Suzan V. David Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund.  This fund provides scholarship funding for those less fortunate to obtain their nursing degree. This fund was endowed several years ago to honor Suzan and she has been able to meet with all recipients annually to encourage them in their journey to obtain a nursing degree.  Donations will allow us to honor her legacy to care for others for many years to come.  Please see the information below for help with making a donation.
