Thomas “Tom” Petrie passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by his wife and four children. He was born on May 14, 1942, in New York City and was the son of Paul and Regina Petrie. He graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in Manhasset, New York and graduated from Marist College earning a B.A. Degree in History in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1965. Tom enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1966 to 1968. He spent his entire career on Wall Street as a bond broker in government securities and retired from Hilliard Farber and Company in New York City in 2001. An avid golfer, who was tired of the Northeast winters, moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in early 2002.
He was married to Marguerite “Peggy” Prial for 55 years and together they had four children: Timothy (Lilian) of Hoboken, NJ; Meagan Petrie Gerosa (Bob) of Ridgefield, CT; Michael Petrie and Edward “Ted” Petrie both of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; and his four grandchildren Liam, Caroline, and Margot Gerosa and John Petrie. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Petrie Heskin (Neil); three half siblings, William Wright (Rosemary), Cynthia Wright, and Sandra Wright Kind; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was a loving, outstanding husband and father, and his family was always his priority. He had an incredible wit and was known for his sense of humor, always ready to tell a joke. He loved movies, college basketball, and professional golf and was a long-standing member of North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington, NY and Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and will be missed by many other family members and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
