Wayne Carl Martin Trinrud

Wayne Trinrud, 79 of Ponte Vedra, Florida, died peacefully surrounded by his immediate family on Saturday, May 13, 2023.  Born in Iola, Wisconsin, Wayne was the son of Walter and Magda Trinrud.

Following graduation from Appleton High School West in 1962, Wayne attended and graduated from  the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in social science.

In 1968, Wayne joined the United States Marine Corps and reported to Quantico, Virginia where he completed Basic School and Officer Candidate School.  In the fall of 1968, he was assigned  to Navy Aviation School in Pensacola, Florida and received his Navy Pilot Wings of Gold in the fall of 1969.  He then transitioned to CH-46 helicopters prior to going to Vietnam where he served aboard the USS Iwo Jima. Following his tour in Vietnam, he became a flight instructor in the T-28 aircraft at Whiting Field in Pensacola.

In 1976, the Trinrud's moved to Orange Park, Florida, where Wayne was employed as a Quality Control Manager for Metal Container Corporation, a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch.  Following his retirement, Wayne enjoyed working part-time at the Museum of Science and History, volunteering to teach citizenship classes, and spending hours playing golf and cards with friends.  His favorite part of retirement started in 2006 when his first grandchild was born.  He loved his grandchildren and would tell everyone that with each birth one just falls in love all over again.  He enjoyed sharing his passion for history, the Green Bay Packers, and the Marine Corps with them all.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Trish Gorsky Trinrud; son Christopher (Jammy); daughter Keri Collins (Sean); grandkids Darby, Cameron, Amelia, Brady and Carson; his brother David Trinrud; sister Ramona Hernandez; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life along with military honors will be held on June 10th at 1 p.m. at the Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home, 4750 Palm Valley Rd, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Those that knew Wayne, would know that he loved to tell a story and have a good time. We want those attending to share funny stories and memories of Wayne as part of the celebration. Following the celebration join us at Mr. Chubbies in Ponte Vedra Beach for a good bye toast, drinks, and snacks.
