William "Bill" Thrower, 75, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, passed away Friday morning November 4, 2016 while resting at home. Bill was born on May 30, 1941, in Shamrock, FL, to Archie and Lida Thrower. Bill was one of the great pillars in his industry. He was loved and well-respected by many. A very modest and quiet Christian man. A man who built his own business through hard work, honesty and fairness. He was the owner of Bill Thrower Company, a local building supplies company. Bill looked forward to going in to the office every morning. He was a long time golfer, seven times making a "hole-in-one", never wanting recognition for his accomplishments. Bill loved being around the water. He enjoyed fishing, vacationing in the Florida Keys and even snow skiing. But his fondest memories were spending the summers with his family at the lake house in Keystone Heights. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Dorothy; two sons, William "West" Thrower Jr, and Barry Homer Thrower; brother, Robert (Becky); sister, Betty Wyse, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Tuesday, Nov 8, 2016 at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery, 4750 Palm Valley Road (CR210), Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
There will be a private graveside service for family and close friends on Wednesday, Nov 9, 2016.
A memorial service will be at 11:30am Nov 9, 2016 at Beaches Chapel Church, 610 Florida Blvd., Neptune Beach, FL 32266.
