William Eric Carson passed away on July 4, 2023. Eric was third in line of 9 children born to Fredrick and Florence Carson in Ireland. He attended Edgehill Seminary in Belfast and served Methodist churches across Ireland. He met Melissa Carson and they married, August 26, 1964. Eric and Melissa have two children- Lynda Gregg,(Kevin) and Andrew Carson, (Shar); and eight grandchildren, Carson, Carter (Zach), Jordan, Will, Tyler, Luke, Eli, and Sterling.
Eric and the family came to North Carolina for a Sabbatical at Duke University in June of 1972. After several years, Eric was invited to start Urban Ministries in Fayetteville. He continued his ministry and served United Methodist churches in the North Carolina Conference. During retirement Eric and Melissa made countless trips to their home at Lake Junaluska.
A service of remembrance is planned for August 27, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.
