William O. Dudgeon, Jr., passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Baptist Medical Hospital South.  He was born on January 30, 1936, in Anderson, IN, to William Otto Dudgeon, Sr. and Vera Irene Dudgeon.  Bill went to Anderson College and earned his Bachelor degree in Social Studies. Afterwards, he attended Ball State University and earned his Master’s degree in Education. Bill was an elementary school teacher in Anderson, IN, until he and his family moved to Northern Virginia, where he then joined Fairfax County Public Schools as an Assistant Principal.  He also served as Principal for various elementary schools. Bill retired in 1993.  Upon retirement, he enjoyed an active life collecting American stamps, Lladro and Hummel figurines, art, and antiques.  Bill loved to attend estate sales and auctions.  He and his wife resided in Jacksonville, FL.  Bill is survived by his wife, Carmen Simich-Dudgeon, of Jacksonville, FL; his daughter, Renee Dudgeon, of Jacksonville, FL; his step son, Steve W. Lee, of Seattle, WA; his two brothers, Robert Dudgeon, of Noblesville, IN, and David Dudgeon, of Lansdale, PA; and  his daughter-in-law, Jane Dudgeon, of Ponte Vedra, FL. He was preceded in death by his son, William Scott Dudgeon, and his sisters, Nancy Hemmerle and Beth Fluck.  A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at his home on Sunday, June 11, from 2-5 p.m. at 7683 Wexford Club Drive East. The family suggests that any contributions be sent to The Humane Society of the USA.
