William James (Jim) Smith
Jim Smith, 74 of Saint Johns, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday February 17th at Brookdale Crown Point, Mandarin, Florida.
Jim (as he was fondly called by family and friends) was born on February 2, 1949 in Hartford , Connecticut to the late Alice Piencykowsi and Earl Smith.
Jim moved to Florida in the late 70’s where he became a successful businessman, owning and operated several businesses including Dunlawton True Value Hardware, Port Orange, FL.
He had a special love of Gatlinburg, TN where in spent many hours enjoying the beautiful Smokey Mountains. The smoke across the mountains brought him great pleasure!
His love of nature carried through to his home, where he enjoyed endless hours of caring for his yard.
In 1986 Jim met his wife of 37 years Donna Andrews. They would have celebrated their 38 year anniversary on June 13th. He is also survived by 3 children, James, Ben and Sandy, all of Florida, several nieces and nephews and a special connection with his nephew, John Butryman of East Hartford, CT.
Jim also loved his pets, which included a very special kitty Lucie and his parrot, Paul Harvey.
Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday March 1,2024 at 11:00am at Ponte Vedra Valley Cremation and Cemetery, 4750 Palm Valley Rd., Ponte Vedra, FL 32082
