Bill Wren, born April 13, 1937, in Buffalo, New York, to William and Marian Wren, died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, on October 31, 2024, after several years of declining health. Bill spent much of his life in Jacksonville, Florida, where he graduated from the Bolles School in 1955. His illustrious flying career began when he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was accepted into the Naval Aviator Cadet program. As an A/F-4 fighter jet pilot, he was based in Okinawa, Japan where he flew missions over China and the South Pacific. He later joined the Marine Corps reserve unit VFA-142 Marine Attack Squadron (Fighting Gators), eventually assuming command as a Lt Colonel (retired 1976). His thirty-year career as Captain with TWA airlines took him all over the world. Flying was the passion of his life, but he was also an avid sailor and raced on the St. Johns River. He was an enormously talented guitarist and pianist, and he spent years enjoying golf, ZZ Top concerts, traveling, and boating in the Caribbean. Bill leaves behind his wife, Judy Wren, his daughters Molly Wren, Danielle Wren and Michele Cook (Halsey), stepsons David Lombana (Daphne) and Andy Lombana (Carmen), his sister Mary Carol Galvin, sister-in-law Sylvia Wren, and five grandchildren.
