Zachary Clair Foster, a beloved husband, son, brother and friend, a lover of Jesus, a hard-worker and a fisherman in every sense of the word, from the ocean to the people around him. Jesus surely called Zac like He did Peter and Andrew, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Zac fought to live out that calling.
Zac was born on May 14, 1989, in Brownwood, Texas. On Saturday, May 15, 2021, Zac went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In 2017, Zac moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he met the love of his life, Dina Foster. Zac wanted to give the world to Dina and worked hard to do it. In 2019, they got married on the beach by Pastor Juan Del Valle, a spiritual father and close friend who along with his wife, Kim, and two sons, Joshua and Caleb, invited Zac to live with them for a year when he was first settling in Jacksonville.
Zac and Dina shared a love that many hope to – sacrificial, genuine, passionate, and sincerely devoted to the other’s happiness. In early 2021, they bought a home together looking forward to starting a family. The year before they took a step toward growing their family when they brought home a sweet corgi, Zac named Star. You could often find Zac playing with, training, or walking her, an adorable sight with Zac’s broad-shouldered, six-foot-two stature holding or leading the 4-pound pup. You could see glimpses then of the devoted, loving father Zac would be to his children one day.
A listening ear, Zac was always ready to pick up the phone and enjoy a conversation with family or friends. Everyone who knew him, knew they could call him at a moment’s notice, and he’d be there. He loved deeply and desired the best for the people near him. He is loved and will be grievously missed by his immediate and extended family, along with the ‘adopted’ families he found throughout his life.
An evangelist in the sincerest form, Zac could and would speak to anyone, never with an agenda but simply sharing the truth of how he knew life to be because of Christ’s work in him. He saw people beyond their sins and pain to the core of who they really are.
An avid golfer and fisherman, Zac loved being on the green or sitting on a dock enjoying the sun rise and set with his fishing pole in hand. He got out on the water as much as he could and planned to buy a boat one day soon for more deep-sea fishing.
A successful salesman, Zac worked untiringly, determined to complete each task to the best of his ability and to provide for his family. He started with CED in the warehouse and moved his way up through nearly every position and role initiating first-class systems and processes to improve company operations at every level. He then moved to tackling outside sales where he consistently amazed the leadership team as he opened new business with many clients.
In every success, Zac, with his beloved Dina, would delight in the goodness of God and talk about how much He had blessed them. Zac was generous with his blessings, ready to give money wherever he felt the Lord lead him.
One of Zac’s favorite verses is Romans 8:35, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?” Zac always took God at His word. Regardless of what he faced, Zac loved Jesus and worshipped Him with a devotion and sincerity that is beautiful and rare.
Zac is survived by his wife, Dina Elizabeth Foster. He is also survived by his parents, Jason and Lari Foster; his siblings, sisters, Mackenzie Spillane and Malari Bainy, and brother, Levi Foster; his grandmother, Sharon Riker; and his grandfather, Ron Riker and wife Debbie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Zac’s honor on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 4 p.m., at the Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home. Friends, family and the public are invited to attend a visitation at 2 p.m. preceding the service.
